Along with the development of 5G industry there has been a growing demand recently for power supplies with wider functionality and greater reliability for data centers, chargers and laser equipment. In response to these trends MEAN WELL has invested a lot of resources into development of a new series of intelligent power supplies for harsher environments, HEP-1000. In addition to models with 24 V and 48 V outputs, which are usually relevant in industry, this series also includes a model with 100 V DC output for use in lasers and chargers.
Each AC / DC converter of the HEP-1000 series features a unique metal case, completely filled with a compound, and is cooled by free air convection (without using a fan), which provides excellent protection against environmental influences and allows these products to be installed in dusty and humid spaces.
Another key feature of the HEP-1000 series is the integration of a power supply and a charger into one model. The user can switch between charger / power supply modes using the SBP-001 programmer or the communication interface. When connected as a charger, this product allows you to use the built-in programmable three-stage charge curve for direct current, constant voltage and floating charge, which will allow the user to set their own parameters.
HEP-1000 is suitable for lead-acid as well as lithium-ion batteries, therefore can be used in charging systems of electric vehicles and other electrical devices. In addition, you can monitor characteristics and operation status of the charger, such as its output voltage, current and protection functions, which can help prevent various incidents, e.g. overheating of the battery due to overcharging.
Standard models of the HEP-1000 series have built-in support for PMBus control and optional models with CANBus protocol are also available. That is why you can seamlessly integrate these AC / DC converters into various types of high-end systems. Advantages of such a system will be energy efficiency, state monitoring capabilities, as well as fast communication between the system and its power source, which makes HEP-1000 a suitable solution for data centers and devices requiring digital power management. At the same time HEP-1000 converters support analog control: you can program output voltage and current (PV / PC). By supplying external DC control signals it is possible to adjust both voltage and current at the output of the power supply within their respective ranges ( 50% ~ 125% and 20% ~ 100%).
Flexibility and high reliability make the HEP-1000 series an excellent solution for use in industrial automation, industrial control systems, lasers, chargers etc.
