Quectel Wireless Solutions announced its new, dual-band, high-precision GNSS module — LC29H. It is built on the AG3335 chipset platform, manufactured by Airoha. The module is capable of working with GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS and BDS global positioning systems. The LC29H module is available in several variants, some of which (eg LC29H-BA) support Real Time Kinematic (RTK) and Dead Record (DR) functions. GNSS LC29H series of modules offers high-performance and energy-efficient solutions to meet the market needs for high-precision positioning at the centimeter and decimeter levels. These modules are ideal for high-precision positioning tasks in areas such as unmanned aerial vehicles, precision agriculture, robot and vehicle control in delivery, and many other industrial and autonomous industries.

Quectel LC29H module can simultaneously receive and process signals from all constellations (GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo and QZSS), which, in combination with the support of the Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS), maximizes the availability of the satellite signal. The module supports L1 and L5 dual-band signal reception, guaranteeing increased positioning speed and accuracy. Dual-band signal reception provides reliable positioning indicators and significantly mitigates the negative effect of operation from parasitic superimposed and reflected satellite signal waves, which is relevant in difficult operating conditions, for example, in large cities with multi-story buildings.
RTK and DR for high precision GNSS positioning
The LC29H version of the module, containing 6-axis inertial IMU sensors (3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope), combines RTK positioning and DR technology to provide continuous accurate positioning and motion trajectory display when the satellite signal is partially or completely blocked, for example, underground parking lots, tunnels, urban buildings or forests. When re-receiving a satellite signal, the LC29H module combines data from inertial sensors with GNSS signals, and integrated navigation can provide decimeter-level location accuracy. To improve the performance when using a module with a passive antenna, the LC29H has a built-in amplifier (LNA) and an internal SAW filter, which ensures the high sensitivity of the receiver.
The LC29H modules use a 12nm manufacturing process that provides the dual-band receiver chip with high power efficiency, enabling ultra-low power consumption in GNSS seek and fix modes. This makes the module an ideal solution for non-volatile and battery-powered devices, including handheld devices, vehicle trackers, and more. The module has a standard LCC form factor with dimensions of 12.2 mm × 16 mm × 2.5 mm, which allows easy integration into new developments and facilitates the migration of legacy devices to the latest high-precision GNSS technologies.
The LC29H series modules are excellent for a wide range of GNSS applications, including those where support for RTK or DR technology is required. The modules are available in four versions, each of which is aimed at different application scenarios.
