Just 20 years ago, the idea of using LED traffic lights for road management seemed, at the very least, unusual due to the exceptionally high cost of LEDs compared to cheap incandescent bulbs, and on the other hand, the inexpensive electricity that was theoretically being saved.
However, the opening of borders and the observation of traffic light industry trends in the civilized world encouraged the bravest private entrepreneurs to adopt new technologies not as something imposed "from above," but rather as initiatives from the "ground up."
Despite the challenging post-Soviet period, Ukrainian manufacturers of industrial electronics were able to rapidly catch up to European standards.
For instance, in 2007, the SEA Company manufactured its first revolutionary LED traffic light, which, at that time, was created "from scratch" within the organized production process, utilizing the most modern technologies and components.
With significantly improved optical characteristics, the absence of phantom effects, and additionally, being visually appealing, durable, lightweight, and easy to maintain, SEA's LED traffic lights quickly conquered intersections in both the capital and other cities of Ukraine.
Subsequently, there were useful traffic lights that "communicate" with individuals with special needs, as well as countdown timers that enhanced pedestrian safety feelings.
