Traffic Countdown Timer

TOIS allows drivers and pedestrians to receive additional information about time in seconds, which remains for switching off permissive (green) or forbidding (red) traffic signals, thereby reducing probability of road accidents. The timer TOIS1.10 (TOIS1.20) is assembled in additional sections to vehicle and pedestrian traffic lights with diameter of color filter 200mm (300mm).

Novelty of countdown timers, which distinguish them from the same products of other manufacturers, is possibility of brightness correction of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) of a timer, depending on external illumination. This allows to adapt brightness of LEDs for human eyesight, not blinding people at night and to be bright enough in the afternoon. TOIS can independently function without loss of count even at mode of blinking green light (1 sec shine/1 sec doesn’t shine), which signals about forthcoming switching off of a green signal. Thanks to considerable capacity resources of power supply output capacitor and use of electronic components meant for an industrial range of temperatures, TOIS can operate at an environmental temperature from -40 to +80°C.

The devices provide a numeric count down display that indicates the number of seconds remaining for a pedestrian to complete their crossing of a street. The countdown counts the length of time between the current “walk” signal and the solid “don’t walk” signal which gives more precise information to the pedestrian than the current system.
